Types of surfing lessons

From the 1st April we run two surfing lessons daily (if conditions are suitable)

Surfing lesson times are:
AM. Check in at 10:00am
Start at 10:30am - finish at 12:30

PM. Check in at 1:30pm
Start at 2pm - finish at 4pm

The Beginners/Improvers surfing lessons are two-hour lessons that cover safety issues, catching waves, standing up, turning and controlling the surfboard.

Two Day Special
2 Days (Sat & Sun-am & pm) 4 Surfing Lessons = £85

All lessons include a further one and a half hours hire of surfboard and wetsuit free of charge( worth £16).

A Progressor Surfing Lesson can be arranged to ease the the transition between the first tentative steps and riding unbroken waves for £30.

A 20% group discount is available for groups of 5 - 10 people. For groups of 11 - 20 we can give a 25% discount. 21+ = 30% discount.

Gwithian Surf Academy, The premier surf school based in St Ives Cornwall -

One on One Coaching is available to fine-tune your surfing for £75 for the first two hours and £30 per hour thereafter. This session includes video analysis, tips on reading the line-up, paddling and positioning techniques and hints to develop your wave riding and repertoire.

Small group surfing lessons can be booked for upto 6 people ( minimum of 3 people) at a rate of £40 per person per 2hr session. Fewer people = more personalised coaching. Price also includes all equipment required.

With small groups we can also offer a 'Safari' option. We wil pick you up from your accommodation, take you to where the best waves are on the day, give you a two hour surf lesson, let you practise for a couple of hours and then take you home. This is for groups of 3-5 people and costs £50 per person. This price includes all equipment required and transportation.

Gwithian Surf Academy, The premier surf school based in St Ives Cornwall -
As a Centre of Excellence we run all manner of programmes to ensure that you achieve your surfing goals. We are now running regular fitness sessions to compliment our yoga workshops so that we can take a holistic approach to improve your surfing performance.


We will be running Speed and Power group training sessions from 5pm - 6pm every Tuesday and Thursday in July and August.


Only £3 per person per session.
