Surfing equipment that you will be using!
We use Swell boards for the beginner lesson. These boards are the ideal boards for learning surfing's basics because:
- They are big and buoyant and therefore make a nice steady platform on which to stand.
- The boards have a soft covering making them safe for use by complete beginners and children.
GAS suits
We use GAS wetsuits for our lessons.
- They have been developed in Britain by Alder for our uncompromising climate.
- The wetsuits are 4'3's proividing an ideal compromise between flexibility and warmth.
Wetsuits can be hired for £5 for 3 hours, £7 per day, £18 for 3 days or £35 per week.
NSP surfboards
For Intermediate surfers we use NSP surfboards.
- Refined plan-shape (outline) and rails (edges) give increased maneouvrability.
- Three fins provide more control and drive (speed).
- Very buoyant.
Surface surfboards can be rented for £9 for 3 hours £15 per day, £35 for 3 days or £70 per week.
The Gwithian Academy of Surfing is a member of the RNLI Surf Hire Safety Scheme and has agreed:
to only rent equipment suitable to your ability
to provide safety information to all customers
to check equipment regularly for damage
to maintain adequate insurance
