The 18th annual No Pro surfing event began in perfect overhead surf and under clear blue skies this Saturday 15th of September at Gwithian Beach. While the weather slowly deteriorated as the day went on the surfing standard stayed incredibly high throughout.
This event is unique in that only non-sponsored surfers are allowed to compete for the top prize making this a great day for the grassroots competitors in the sport.

Saturday 26th of May was probably the hottest day so far in Cornwall and while the surf itself was a little on the small side the surfing was blistering.
Mark 'TinTin' Eley, a super keen surf coach who works for GAS as well as volunteering with Sennen Surf Club, suggested that we get the groms together for regular surfing days with an informal competition followed by a beach bbq to round the day off. If they all go like this one we'll be delighted.
Getting the call to surf for your country is generally the best thing that could possibly happen to a young, up and coming surfing. GAS surf coach and local ripper Paddy Daniel was delighted when he got the call but his ecstacy only lasted until he realised he would have to pay a whopping £2500 to go.
