No Pro 2025
Clear your diaries for the 13th of September!
Down the Line Surf Co, Prosper House Camping, the Red River Inn, St Ives Brewery and the National Trust have joined us once again to put on this amazing surfing comp.
The competition is for non sponsored surfers and is a grass roots event aimed at unleashing our competitive spirits in a relaxed environment. The event will be taking place over the weekend of the 13th of September and once again we have a Mens, Women’s, U16 Mens and U16 Women’s categories.
The plan is to run (and complete) the event on Saturday but we do have permission to run on Sunday as well if the surf is uncooperative.
Final entries for the comp is on Sunday 7th of September so that we can make the draw in the Red River Inn at 7pm on the evening of Friday 12th of September.
The Tinnies will be playing from 7:30pm so it’s not to be missed.
We are aiming to have the first heat in the water by 8am on Saturday 13th.
We should have the comp all wrapped up by 6ish on the Saturday and after the finals the prize-giving will be at the Red River Inn at around 7pm. Food will be available for all competitors before Saturday evenings entertainment begins. Again there is a great local band, the Olives, who will be playing some of their amazing repertoire.
Prosper House Camping are offering camping for Friday and Saturday night free of charge for competitors so you can make a weekend of it if you want to. There is only a limited amount of camping pitches so it is advised to get your entry in early and don’t forget to tick the ‘Camping’ tickbox on your entry form.

Download an entry form here and bring it in to Down the Line Surf Co or Gwithian Academy of Surfing with your entry fee before the end of Sunday 7th of September.
Thanks!
Well, that was wild!
Despite a horrifying forecast of waves and weather on Saturday morning we awoke to blue skies and ….uhm….contestable surf. We may have had to deal with a couple of deluges during the day but overall the No Pro was blessed again with surf and (mostly) sun. Solid overhead surf powered into St Ives Bay and at 6pm on Saturday we were able to crown this years worthy winners at the Red River Inn.
There is a loooong list of people to thank but I have to start with the team at Sandy Acres. We intended to run from the National Trust beach at Gwithian and Godrevy but when the Williams family at Sandy Acres allowed us to run the comp a little further down the bay we gratefully took them up on the offer. It’s a great place to hang out and catch some waves.
Once again Down the Line Surf Co provided us with some amazing prizes for all four categories and they even handed out some goodie bags on the beach for the younger competitors. If you’re looking for a new surfboard to practise on before next years No Pro then pay them a visit.
Massive thanks to Marco and the team at St Ives Brewery. They make a huge contribution to the beach vibes on the day and at the afterparty as well as providing some prizes for the Men’s and Women’s surfing categories.
Thanks to the judges, runners and tabulators that made the event run like clockwork on the day – the vast majority of whom are volunteers and gave up their time to help make this event so successful. Some of our Stormriders Surf Clubbers had to run up the dreaded Sandy Acres dunes multiple times over the day to ensure the judges had a steady supply of coffee and cake!
Also thanks for the National Trust and Sue Nicholls for helping with getting permission to run the event.
Lastly, thanks to all the competitors. Every one of you helped to make this such an enjoyable event to run and we were stoked to get to spend a day at the beach with you.
We couldn’t have done it without you.

We managed to get heaps of photos during the event. You can find them on our Google Drive.
Feel free to download any that you want but if you use them on your socials then could you credit them to Gwithian Academy of Surfing / Ollie Birch.
