Welcome to Stormriders – Gwithian Academy of Surfing’s Community Surf Club!
Stormriders, founded in 2000, is our community surf club open to everyone in Cornwall, from ages 6 and up! Whether you’re a complete beginner or a seasoned surfer, Stormriders Surf Club is the perfect place to connect with others, improve your surfing skills, and enjoy the waves in a fun and supportive environment.
At Stormriders, we believe in fostering a sense of camaraderie, adventure, and respect for the ocean, all while creating an inclusive space for surfers of all ages and abilities. Our club members will have access to exclusive surf sessions, coaching, and social events, all designed to help you grow as a surfer while enjoying the vibrant local surf scene.

Upcoming Stormriders Junior Surf Club Courses
Stormriders Junior – Beginner to Intermediate (£12.50 per session, full block booking required)
Perfect for young surfers looking to build confidence, skills, and ocean knowledge in a fun and supportive environment. Sessions must be booked as a full block.
Saturdays: 10:00 – 12:00
• Summer Term 1: 26th April (5-week block)
• Summer Term 2: 7th June (7-week block)
• Summer Holidays: 26th July (6 weeks)
• Autumn Term: 6th September (6 weeks – no session during No Pro Comp week)
Stormriders Juniors – Intermediate to Advanced (£12.50 per session, full block booking required)
For young surfers ready to push their skills further and take on more challenging conditions. These sessions include video analysis to help refine technique and progression, and can also cover competitive surfing training if required. Sessions must be booked as a full block.
Saturdays: 13:30 – 15:30
• Spring Term: 22nd March (5-week block)
• Summer Term 1: 26th April (5-week block)
• Summer Term 2: 7th June (7-week block)
• Summer Holidays: 26th July (6 weeks)
• Autumn Term 1: 6th September (6 weeks – no session during No Pro Comp week)
• Autumn Term 2: 8th November (6-week block)
Stormriders Juniors – All Abilities (£12.50 per session, full block booking required)
A midweek session for all junior surfers, whether you’re starting out or progressing your skills. Sessions must be booked as a full block.
Thursdays: 16:00 – 18:00
• Summer Term 1: 24th April (5-week block)
• Summer Term 2: 5th June (7-week block)
• Summer Holidays: 24th July (6-week block)
On Saturdays we have 2 separate courses running, one at 10am and the other at 1pm. We also have a Thursday club at 4pm. You cannot switch between days and times, you have to do the same time and day each week.
All abilities are welcome from complete beginner to seasoned pros and we ask that surfers are aged 6-16yrs (surfers from 6-9yrs considered if strong confident swimmers, can manage to handle the surfboard and if a parent/guardian is willing to go in the sea and assist them).
All registration forms for the courses and fees are to be dropped into surf shop before your course commences to guarantee your spot. When dropping forms off you have around 15min before the Parking Eye will issue a fine – if you want a chat or to look around the surf school we recommend getting a ticket.
The price covers all the equipment that you will need such as surfboards, wetsuits and, in the colder months, boots, gloves and hood. In fact all you need to bring is a towel.

Stormriders Surf Club
Stormriders Surf Club is open to all surfers and is a great way to get surfing and make new friends along the way
Our Adult Stormriders Surf Club was set up more recently with the view to getting a few of the parents in the water and has grown from there. These are £20 for a two hour session or £100 for six sessions.

The Wave Project
The Wave Project is a charity that changes lives through surfing therapy and we have collaborated with them for several years now.
